7-Day Safari: Samburu, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve

Begin your safari with a hotel or airport pick-up in Nairobi at 8:00 am. Travel north to Samburu Game Reserve via Isiolo, enjoying game drives en route to your lodge or camp. After lunch, relax before setting out on an afternoon game drive at 3:00 pm. Samburu is home to unique wildlife including the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, and Grevy’s zebra, as well as a rich variety of bird species. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or Samburu Intrepid Camp. Meals included: lunch and dinner.

Day 2: Full-Day Samburu Game Reserve Safari

Spend a full day exploring Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Encounter the reserve’s rare species, including the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, and Grevy’s zebra, alongside lions, elephants, and other wildlife. Bird watchers will also enjoy the diverse avian population. Return to Samburu Sopa Lodge or Samburu Intrepid Camp for dinner and overnight. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 3: Samburu to Aberdare National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive to Aberdare National Park. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and check-in. Relax in the afternoon before heading out for a game drive at 3:00 pm. Explore the forested highlands in search of black rhinos, leopards, baboons, black-and-white colobus monkeys, sykes monkeys, lions, the elusive golden cat, and the rare bongo antelope. Conclude the day with dinner and overnight at Tree Top Lodge, The Ark, or Outspan Hotel. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 4: Aberdare to Lake Nakuru National Park

Enjoy breakfast before departing Aberdare National Park. Drive via Thomson’s Falls to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving around 11:00 am. Enjoy a short game drive en route to your lodge for lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, explore the park to view flamingos and pelicans along the lake, as well as white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, waterbucks, and other wildlife. Lake Nakuru’s forested areas also attract a wide variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Flamingo Hill Tented Camp. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Start the day with an early morning game drive before breakfast, then drive along the Great Rift Valley, passing the extinct Mount Longonot volcano en route to Masai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy game drives on the way to your lodge or camp for lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to spot giraffes, elephants, monkeys, leopards, lions, gazelles, and diverse bird species. Dinner and overnight at Camp Oloshaiki, Mara Sopa Lodge, or Ashnil Mara Lodge. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 6: Full-Day Masai Mara Safari

Spend a full day in Masai Mara Game Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Witness the Big Five—lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard—alongside wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, gazelles, and other wildlife. The park’s vast landscapes and rich biodiversity provide endless opportunities for photography and wildlife encounters. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight. Day 7: Masai Mara to Nairobi

Begin the final day with an early morning game drive before breakfast. After breakfast, depart Masai Mara and drive back to Nairobi, enjoying lunch along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon with transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel, marking the end of your unforgettable 7-day Kenyan safari. Meals included: breakfast and lunch.
